- Kids’ Library is the same as Find it Fast!, but the subjects are geared to our younger patrons and the hits will all be books and materials in the Juvenile or Young Adult areas.
Your Search Results
The Search Results box will tell you how many items were found. The list (if more than one item was found) will be by date of publication, with the newest items at the top of the list.
Some of the selections will show a book cover and some icons. The icons give access to book summaries, table of contents, book reviews and sometimes a sample chapter.
To Place an Item on Hold
If the item you want is available, its location will be given. If the item has been checked out or if you are searching a library other than New Lenox, you can place a Hold on the item and it will be reserved for you.
To place a Hold, click on the Full Details box next to the title. Then click on the Hold icon (a hand with the word “Hold” below it).
Type in your 14-digit library card number as your User ID. Then enter your PIN (see "Your PIN and Account" section). Then select the library where you would like the material sent.
Click on Place Hold. Holds can be cancelled by clicking on Cancel Selected Holds, which is under the My Account.
Note: With HAL, patron’s now have the ability to remotely place holds for “On Shelf” items. The possibility will exist that a patron in the library could pick the remotely requested item off the shelf before a staff member is able to retrieve the item for the hold. We regret this inconvenience.
To Renew Items
Go to My Account. Click on Review My Account and enter your full 14-digit library card number and PIN. Click on List Charged Items.
Click on Renew All or select the items to renew.
Click Renew All Selected Items located at the bottom of the page.
NOTE: Items that are overdue or on hold for another patron cannot be renewed online.
Your PIN and Account
The default PIN is the last four digits of your library card. To change it to an individual PIN, go to My Account. Click on User PIN Change. Enter your library card number and your current PIN.
Enter your new password in Enter New PIN and then retype your new password in Re-enter New PIN.
Click on Change PIN.
Remember your PIN, this will allow you to gain access to your account.
Be sure to log off after you finish viewing your profile!
