Get a library card
Bring in ID with your current address showing that you live in the New Lenox Public Library District. Acceptable forms of ID include, but are not limited to: Illinois driver’s license, tax bill, voter registration card. Minors under the age of 18 must have their application card signed by a parent or other guardian.
Replace a lost library card
Please call or email the library [include email addresses] as soon as you know that your card is lost; this is to protect you and your account. Bring in your ID with your current address and we will look up your account and then issue a new card. The first replacement is $2; the second is $3, and all additional replacements will cost $5 each.
Renew a book
Visit our catalog to
renew your items and follow the prompts.
Reserve a book
Once you find a book or other item that you’d like to reserve, just follow the links in the record on the catalog. You will be notified by email or phone when the item is ready for you to pick up.
Donate used books
The New Lenox Public Library welcomes donations of gently used books, audiovisual materials, and puzzles. New Lenox Library and the Friends of the Library will review all material donated and determine whether it should be added to the collection, used in the Friends’ Book Sale, or discarded.
We welcome the following items in GOOD condition:
- Recent and popular fiction and non-fiction books
- Art books and cookbooks are particularly desirable
- Music CDs
- DVDs and audio books on CD
- Paperbacks in like-new condition
We do not need:
- Extra issues or old runs of magazines
- Textbooks
- Reader’s Digest Condensed Books
- Dated books, particularly computer and medical books
- Water-damaged or mildewed books
- Books with missing covers
- Pamphlets
- Old encyclopedia sets
- Cassette tapes
Please bring items to the Receiving Door at the back of the building. Do not put donated items in the book drop. Thank you!
Donations are tax deductible. At your request, library staff can provide you with a letter of receipt that you may fill out for tax purposes. The library staff is not qualified to determine the value of your donation.
