Honoring All Who Served

Cards for Veterans

Books and Wine

In honor of Veterans Day (November 11), children and adults are invited to create a thank you card or letter for a veteran or a soldier. Visit Youth Services to view some samples, then use our supplies to make a card. You are encouraged to draw a picture, write something about yourself, and include some positive words of appreciation. You may also make a Christmas card for a veteran or soldier, if you prefer. The card-making station will be available until at least Friday, November 22, so stop in any time between now and then to create a card and show your gratitude for those who have served. All the cards you create will be sent to an organization that distributes letters and cards to veterans and soldiers.

Hey friends! Like books? Like wine? Like Italian food? Maybe 2 out of 3? Well, please join me at 6 pm this evening, November 6th, at Gatto's Restaurant & Bar, 1938 East Lincoln Highway, New Lenox for a **NEW** Book group. You come ready to talk about any book you choose and/or listen to others do the same. Pretty simple, really, and, hopefully a fun way to learn about new and interesting books! Look for the NEW LENOX PUBLIC LIBRARY table! See you there!

1st Annual Library Mini-Golf Fundraiser a Success

Mini Golf
Mini Golf

The New Lenox Public Library District had its 1st Annual Mini-Golf Fundraiser inside the library on Sunday, October 27 from 11am-5pm. Over 300 people came to golf at the movie themed course. The library raised over $4,200, which will go towards building a Digital Media Lab in the Adult Services Department.

Golfers were asked to vote for their favorite hole. Each hole was decorated based on a different movie like Despicable Me, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice and Wonderland and Wizard of Oz. The winning hole was decorated by the Friends of the New Lenox Public Library and was based on The Wizard of Oz. The winner received $100 which was generously donated back to the Library.
