Congratulations to our bookmark winners!

A big thanks to all who entered and a giant congratulations to the winners of our first-ever National Library Week bookmark contest! The bookmark contest entries had to reflect our Summer Reading Program theme of Paws to Read! Emma B. was the winner of the little kids contest (through age 7), and Olivia K. was the winner of the big kids contest (ages 8 and up)! Congrats to our winners, and if you'd like to have your very own copy of their winning bookmarks, be sure to stop by the Youth Services main desk to pick one up today!

Summer with the Library

Check out all we have going on this summer at the library. We have something for everyone!

Digital Media Lab Opening June 2nd

DML iMac
Digital Media Lab

Our Digital Media Lab opens on Monday, June 2—just in time for summer! We have iMacs with the Adobe Creative Suite, Processing, GarageBand and more; a Canon DSLR and HD camcorder; a Yeti microphone for podcasts, vocals and narration; and a Wacom drawing tablet. Use the Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting tool to make your own cut paper projects, heat transfers and vinyl decals. Use our LP or Cassette to MP3 converters to digitize your favorite old albums, or use the VHS to DVD Converter to keep your family video archive up to date.

While you're here for Summer Reading, be sure to visit the Digital Media Lab upstairs.

Tween Lock-In

Tween Lock-In

The tweens who attended the Library's first-ever, after-hours lock-in on May 10 had an awesome time doing lots of cool activities from 7-11 pm. Check out the Library's Facebook page for some photos of the fun, which included life-sized Angry Birds, t-shirt decorating, a photo booth, and even more! Looking for more great programs for your children in grades 4-8? The Library offers the following programs for that age group: Girls Rock Book Club, Guys Read, The Scene, The Scene Remix, Science Club, and Art Club! Take a look at our calendar or program guide to find and register for these programs and more.

Summer Reading is Coming

Summer Reading Program

Youth Services is getting ready for this year's Summer Reading Program: Paws to Read, and the animals have invaded! The next time you're at the Library, take a look at all the animal-related activities and decorations scattered throughout the youth department. We've got monkeys in the tree, footprints on the walls, and more! But you don't have to be a kid to take part in the fun and earn prizes! Remember, Summer Reading for all ages (birth-adult) begins June 2.
