New Lenox Public Library seeks a director who honors the values of public library services, understands the importance of partnering with community agencies, maintains and fosters open communications with the residents of the district, and empowers staff by encouraging collaborative efforts. We are looking for a director who can articulate, support, and promote the Library’s mission and work in a highly effective manner with the Board of Trustees.
Built in 2001 and serving a population of 36,847, the library building is located within the campus of New Lenox’s Village Hall and Police Station. The Library is approximately 58,000 sq. ft. with a collection of more than 150,000 items. Total operating receipts in FY15 were approximately $2M.
Education and Experience: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Library and Information Science or equivalent, 5-7 years of professional experience with progressively responsible work, and at least three years in a leadership role. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of budgeting and finance, facilities management experience, leadership, vision, mentoring, staff development, consensus-building and outstanding customer service skills. The New Lenox Public Library Director will be adept at creating and maintaining strong community relationships and be able to perform and coordinate fund-raising activities to meet established fund raising goals.
Salary: Salary beginning at $70,000 based on qualifications and experience, plus a full benefits package.
