Who can get a card?

Anyone who pays property taxes on a residential or commercial property in the New Lenox Public Library District. Library cards expire after three years for residential cards and can only be renewed in person at the Library. We ask you to renew in person to verify your current contact information.

If you live in an unserved area and do not pay property taxes to another library, you can apply and pay for a nonresident card which is $225.00 annually.

What do I need to get a card?

Adults must present a current photo identification, which gives both their name and address of their home or business. If your photo identification does not have the correct address, please bring in a photo ID and an additional piece of identification with your current address.

Valid forms of identification include:

  • driver's license
  • rent receipt
  • utility bill
  • bank statement
  • blank check
  • apartment lease
  • letter on letterhead from a shelter
  • business card (for businesses only)

A minor under the age of 18 must have their application co-signed by a parent, guardian, or other adult relative who is responsible for the child on a long-term basis, who shall accept responsibility for any financial liabilities and/or damages incurred by the minor.

The parent or guardian shall determine any internet filtering levels for the minor until the minor reaches 18 years of age.
