Join us Saturday, Sept. 24th from 10 am – 2 pm! New Lenox Library is sponsoring a blood drive in partnership with Heartland Blood Centers. Appointments are being accepted. Call Liz at 815-485-2605 ex 138 or come into the Library to schedule your preferred donation time at the Circulation Desk!

Who benefits from blood donation?
At Heartland Blood Centers, we never forget the patients who receive the blood we collect. Every unit of blood is collected from volunteer donors who meet specific criteria and have been screened according to strict guidelines. Every unit (pint) is collected, transported, tested and stored according to tightly-controlled procedures. Examples of transfusion needs are:
Cancer - Up to 8 units/month
Bone Marrow Transplant - Up to 2 units/day
Liver Transplant - Up to 100 units
Auto Accident - Up to 50 units
Cardiovascular Surgery - 2 – 25 units

New Director Named

The New Lenox Public Library Board of Trustees is proud to announce that Michelle Krooswyk will become New Lenox Library’s Director. Krooswyk will assume her new role on Monday, September 12, 2016. “It is an honor to lead a talented and engaged library team that already does a stellar job of serving the residents of the New Lenox community,” said Krooswyk.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to provide excellent customer service to all of our patrons and foster positive relationships in a thriving community.” Her most recent experience comes from her role as Assistant Branch Manager of Johnson County Library in Kansas, where she has been employed since 2012.

Krooswyk has her Bachelor of Arts from Governors State University and her Masters in Library Science from Dominican University.

“The Board is looking forward to continued excellence in service and leadership, and Mrs. Krooswyk demonstrates the energy, experience and knowledge to promote ongoing improvement,” said Dr. Edward A. Tatro, Board President.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

The Youth Services is starting Sept. 6 a free program encourages you to read 1,000 books with your child before he/she enters school. One of the best ways to encourage learning is to spend time sharing books every day. Learn more about this new and exciting program.
