Phase 1 is targeted for completion on December 19, with Phase 2 beginning immediately after Phase 1 is finished. We're hoping that Phase 2 will be complete in February.

Phase 2: West (Commons Side) Lobby and Entrance

The Highlights:
- Our new Patron Services Desk will be ready to welcome you the week of December 19!
- The Studio, our expanded Digital Media Lab, will open by Saturday, January 7.
- After Phase 2, The Book Sale will have an expanded, dedicated space.
- A new Conference Room will be built, reserved like a special study room, up to one month in advance.
- Bathrooms near the elevator will be renovated.
- The elevator will be updated.
The Details:
Commons entrance closed December 19, parking lot entrance reopens
- Our west entrance, facing The Commons, will be closed while that side of the building is under construction.
- The east entrance, facing our large parking lot, will be the only open entrance during our Phase 2 renovation (expected to last through February).
Lobby narrowing, elevator replaced
- The lobby area will be significantly narrowed while half of it undergoes renovation during Phase 2.
- The staircase will reopen, but the base will still be under construction. Its display case will be completed at the end of Phase 2.
- There will be a brief time the stairs will be the only option to reach the second floor while the elevator is replaced; we will make announcements when we know dates. Replacement should only take a few days. Staff will be able to get you items from upstairs if you are unable to use the staircase during that time. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Entrances and bathrooms renovated
- The downstairs restrooms near the elevator will undergo renovations for one week. This is planned to be the last week of January. All other public restrooms will remain available during their renovation.
- The elevator will be replaced sometime during this renovation, which will take a few days. We will make announcements when we know dates.
- The entranceway doors will likely be replaced in February. We will have more about that process close to that time. A new automatic door system will be installed. No more heavy single doors, hurray!
Meeting rooms unavailable
- The first-floor meeting rooms will be unavailable during this phase of construction.
- Due to limited space, those wishing to attend in-person events may be required to register in advance. Please check the events calendar for the most up-to-date program locations and capacity information.
