About The Event
Digitize your community artifacts and family heirlooms at the library with the help of the Mobile Memory Lab!
For one day only, catalogers from the Mobile Memory Lab, a service of Illinois Heartland Library System, will carefully photograph or scan family heirlooms and community artifacts, learn about the items, and catalog them for inclusion in the Illinois Digital Archive. You’ll get access to the digital images and help preserve valuable pieces of history for generations to come.
How To Register
Registration begins April 3. Please select a 30-minute time slot. One representative of each group (or individual) must register to reserve your time slot. You are welcome to bring guests as well.
What To Bring
Participants are welcome to bring up to 20 items. Individual items can be but not limited to a letter, a small pamphlet, a photograph, and a pocket watch. Larger items can be but not limited to scrapbooks and genealogy binders. Please note that larger items will take longer than individual.
Due to size constraints of the scanner and light box, flat items (photos, documents, book pages, etc) must be 8.5x11.7 inches or smaller, and 3-dimensional objects cannot be more than 14 inches in any one direction.
