Join us for a picnic and plant-a-thon as we kick off Summer at the Library! Take part in our community planting day, enjoy live music, and cool off with a free sweet treat.

Help us plant and refresh the garden beds in front of the Library, along with planters and window boxes, as part of a community beautification project. Some supplies and tools will be provided, but we encourage you to bring your own, such as: kneeling pads, hand tools, and other gardening equipment. Don't forget hats, sunscreen and water bottles for this outdoor event!

Meet us in front of the Library, stop by to lend a hand with our plant-a-thon, then take a break and relax on the lawn in the New Lenox Commons. Enjoy a free outdoor concert at the New Lenox Performing Arts Pavilion with Nick Madsen throughout the event. Bring a blanket or chair, pack a lunch, and make it a picnic!

Kona Ice will be on site from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The first 150 attendees will receive a voucher for a free 9 oz shaved ice courtesy of The Friends of the Library. See designated staff or volunteers at the event to receive a voucher. (Vouchers are limited to one per person present and must be picked up by an adult. Open to all ages.)

Start at the Library building to check-in, pick up your Kona Ice voucher and grab some other Library swag, while supplies last. While you’re here, stop by to register for “Plant a Seed, Read.” We will be planting seeds, nourishing minds, and growing connections all summer long.

In case of inclement weather, Nick will perform in Meeting Room AB and capacity will be limited to 70 attendees at a time. Kona Ice will be here serving shaved ice, rain or shine!

No registration required.
