Digital Media Lab Coming Soon

Digital Media Lab
Digital Media Lab

With the funds from last year’s Mini-Golf Fundraiser and Friends of the Library Spring Arts Festival, the Library will soon be opening a Digital Media Lab on the 2nd floor in what was once the Periodicals Room. We plan to open the Lab in early June, but wanted to give cardholders a sneak peek at what’s to come.

We will have two stations with Macs, Adobe Creative Suite, and more. We have a Canon DSLR and a Canon Camcorder with a green, black or white backdrop that can be used in the library. We are also excited to offer Lynda.com which will offers users of the lab the chance to expand their knowledge with online tutorials.

We will also have VHS to DVD, LP to MP3 and Cassette to MP3 converters for people to update their older media to newer formats.

All of the equipment and software will be free to New Lenox cardholders. Stay tuned for more information soon!

Join us the first Wednesday of every month for a lively discussion of books at Gatto's Restaurant & Bar, 1938 East Lincoln Highway. Guys Read & Girls Rock (Book Clubs for Grades 4-8)

Hey guys and girls in grades 4-8 -- we have book clubs just for you! Stop in, call us, or go online to register today. Pick up your book at the Circulation Desk and start reading. Then come to your book club to discuss the book with other guys or girls. Not only will you have the opportunity to talk about the book (what you liked, what you didn't, etc.), but during book club, you'll also get to relax with a snack and a cool activity or funky craft!

The guys meet once a month, and their April book is Z. Rex by Steve Cole. Get your heart pumping with this science-fiction adventure about a teenager running from police and a virtual reality video game dinosaur that's come to life! Ask for the book at the Circulation Desk, register for the book club, and get reading! Guys Read is meeting from 4:30-5:30 pm on Friday, April 18.

The Girls Rock Book Club meets every other month, and their April book is Drizzle by Kathleen Van Cleve. This is a whimsical tale full of fantasy and magic as young Polly tries to save her brother's life and her family's magical rhubarb farm from a drought. Ask for the book at the Circulation Desk, register for the book club, and get reading! Girls Rock is meeting from 6:30-7:30 pm on Tuesday, April 15.
