Library Reopening FAQs

Curbside only starting Saturday, November 28

Starting Saturday, November 28, 2020, the library will transition to curbside only services. Conditions will be reassessed two weeks later on Friday, December 11, 2020.

This decision was not made lightly; decreasing services is the polar opposite of what our library strives for. That being said, the motivation to move to curbside only services was based upon safety. It is a preventative measure to keep our community and staff safe as the number of COVID-19 cases rise in our area and due to the historical increase of cases after a holiday occurs.

The only area of the library open will be the lobby, where your hold items will be located. You will be able to park and enter the library from either the Commons or east entrance to retrieve your items. Masks are still required in order to pick up your items.

More about Curbside Pickup

You can continue to access the library without coming into the building:

The New Lenox Public Library District is dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable environment for all patrons and staff. In accordance with the Restore Illinois Plan, all persons entering the library must wear a facial covering and must maintain a six foot distance from all other persons when practicable. Reasonable accommodations such as curbside pickup and online resources are available to those who are medically prevented from or decline to wear a facial covering. Those refusing to wear a facial covering and/or to maintain six foot distance when practicable shall be required to leave the library.
